School Wellness Conference Call for Proposals
Proposal deadline: Apr. 20, 2007
The California Department of Education is partnering with the Department of Health Services and the California School Boards Association to launch a two-day School Wellness Conference Oct. 1-2, 2007 at the Anaheim Marriott. This inaugural conference will feature best practices on local school wellness policy implementation with an emphasis on creating healthy nutrition environments and quality physical education programs.

Monterey Bay Science Project Regional Conference

Parties interested in improving science and math education for grades K-8 are invited to attend the 10th annual Monterey Bay Science Project regional conference. This year's theme, "Alliance for Science," will focus on collaborations between organizations that strengthen science education in the classroom and how science and mathematics can enhance each other. Project Learning Tree GreenWorks! Grant

GreenWorks! Grants, through Project Learning Tree, offer educator grants to implement community action and service-learning projects that address an environmental issue and involve students from pre-school to high school in hands-on community action. The GreenWorks! program encourages participants to form partnerships with groups, businesses, or organizations within their communities. Some examples of past grant projects include outdoor classrooms, gardens (butterfly, vegetable) and schoolyard restoration.

Gardening with Class Conference

The eighth annual School Garden and Nutrition Conference at the Del Mar Fairgrounds is sponsored by the Garden-Based Learning Resource Center of San Diego County. Earth Day Photo Contest for Middle School Students

Students in grades 5-8 are encouraged to take some time observing the world around them during the week of Earth Day (Apr. 22-29) and then capture something that is changing in a photograph. What physical changes do plants and animals go through during their life cycle? What affect does weather have on living things?
