| There are a lot of farms in the Santa Ynez Valley that would opent their doors to you. There is also Sedgwick Ranch which does science based lessons for 4th and 5th grade classes. It is part of UCSB and local ranchers. I would really like to go to the Cal Poly Dairy. It would be great to learn a little bit about growing plants for those of us that have a brown thumb. - Jul 25, 2010 Lana | ||
| It would be wonderful to listen to Joe Sabol as a guest speaker, a retired Ag. Educator from Cal Poly. He is so inspiring, fun and entertaining. Maybe he has some ideas on implementing Ag. into the school curriculum.
Also find out the latest information the Cooperative Extension has for the classroom.
Ideas for tours:
Poly's Arboretum!!!
Clearwater Nursery @ Mesa Rd in Nipomo.
The Luffa Farm in Nipomo on Willow Rd.
Maybe tour home gardens in SLO areas and Santa Barbara areas like in Hope Ranch, Montecito, or Santa Ynez.
And tour natural organic farming in SLO, Apple Valley area.
